Lamb tail connoisseur, bacon bone prefer-ist, GOT enthusiast, passionate visual storyteller and your branding kaitiaki at the online kainga of Te Hā Branding.
I was brought up in Havelock North, Hastings. My Mum was a solo mother on the DPB studying. And then there was my Nana, a seasonal hard working wahine in the orchards.
Being a “Nanny girl”, my hand constantly in her kete eating the everlasting stash of liquorice all sorts. The struggle was real, putea was tight AF! but I was rich. Rich with my Nanas aroha.
It is with these very foundations of aroha, manaakitanga and whanaungatanga that I nurture māori entrepreneurs and breath life into their visions creating thoughtful, hearty, design.
I take breaths of inspiration from Ranginui, Papatūānuku and from the world around us, to create aesthetically pleasing visuals that will attract your target iwi, like Uncle to the jar of toroi.
My design style is clean, natural and simple. Funnily enough, my design process is the same! I focus on getting to know the authentic you, listen carefully to your kōrero, target your iwi, then mahi hard to create stunning and polished branding.

Branding and design is such a specific type of skill and knowledge base I knew that I had to work with a designer that could pull my ideas and concepts out of my mind and on to the canvas. Or in this case screen. Jan worked conscientiously and diligently with me as we progressed through several iterations before landing on the final concepts. Jan’s creative knowledge and ability to communicate with relevant context was astounding. Jan showed immense patience through the entire process and always responded with warmth and consideration.

Creativity has always been. Watching my Nan knit wooly jerseys, painting old jam jars, kapa haka, making pois, making mud pies and decorating them with flower petals.
The education seed had been planted long ago. I completed a Diploma in Visual arts and design, then went on to complete a Bachelor of Computer Graphics and Design at The University of Waikato. I also did Te Tohu Pae Tahi and met my now husband.
We both graduated from Waikato and went off to the big smoke, Brisbane Australia. It was during this time I learnt about printing, marketing, FMCG, sporting uniforms and promotional marketing.
Working in the printing industry was hard out! I was graphic designer/ digital print co-ordinator for customers such as Virgin Australia and ice cream franchise Baskin Robbins. I learnt the ropes. I then went into marketing as marketing coordinator at Night Owl Convenience, head office for a couple years rolling out marketing campaigns to over 60 franchises around Australia. Designing and coordinating marketing collateral, from posters to shop fit outs, you name it and i’ve props done it.
To tell you the truth, I desperately craved the flexibility to be at home with my tamariki…… I disliked leaving my boy at long day care. And now, you might even get to see them make a cameo appearance during a zoom hui.
With the confidence of my husband and the many trial and errors of freelance graphic design, I took breaths of courageous and brave. I took flight. I crashed, I’ve fixed my wings, persevered, and continue to learn. Te Hā Branding came to life.
Today, I am passionate about making magic with māori entrepreneurs just like you, to create stunning, one of a kind, branding that we can both be super proud of.
